Breakaway

Let’s do a quick check in on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The series is tied up 2-2 with Game 5 going down tomorrow evening. The Bruins killed the Blues 7-2 in Game 3, but the Blues came back Monday night to win Game 4 4-2. Let’s take this thing to seven games boys. All that we have to look forward to after this and the NBA Finals are over is a long expanse of regular season baseball and injury updates from NFL training camp. Don’t subject us to that just yet. Also, a key part of the Bruins defense left the game on Monday night. Turns out veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara broke his jaw after taking a deflected puck to the face. Owwwww. We will see how much of a blow that is to the Bruins tomorrow night.

Fadeaway

Annnnnnd Game 3 is upon us in the NBA Finals. The series between the Raptors and the Warriors is tied up 1-1 as we head to California for Game 3. Raptors star Kawhi Leonard definitely needed a couple days to rest after Game 2, because he was limping around a little bit on Sunday. That will not do. The Raptors need him to lead the squad. So the Warriors will definitely be comfortable tonight with their home court advantage and their general ability to win championships and not really be scared of anything. We shall see who will take the series lead …

Softball National Championship

Game 2 of the  NCAA Softball National Championship was last night between UCLA and Oklahoma, and the Bruins won it all in exciting fashion. It was the bottom of the seventh, tied ball game. UCLA’s Kinsley Washington hit a walk-off single that got her teammate to score, and the Bruins won 5-4. UCLA swept the series and added a 13th National Championship to their record. Oklahoma was a tough opponent too. They had won three of the last four National Championships, they just couldn’t overcome a solid UCLA squad with the USA college softball player of the year Rachel Garcia staring them down. Congrats, Bruins! Big stuff.

Mama I made it

Last night Stanford and Fresno State were playing in the regional round of the College World Series. Stanford star Kyle Stowers was about to be up to bat. At that moment, news arrived that he has been selected by the Orioles with the 71st pick in the MLB draft. How cool is that? All his teammates came up to congratulate him, they made an announcement to the crowd, and Kyle got to take it all in in front of Stanford fans. I’m actually tearing up, I love seeing dreams come true. Cherry on top of it all was Stanford won to advance to the super-regional against Mississippi State. Good for you, Kyle. Lifetime memory for you, sir.
