NBA Trade Deadline

Ohhh, baby. The NBA trade deadline is today at 3 p.m. Lots of movement. Lots of action. Without question the most ridiculous trade happened to Harrison Barnes of the Mavericks. He was in the middle of a game, literally on the court, when he was traded to the Sacramento Kings last night. What do you even do at that point? Like do you go to the locker room? Start scoring points for the other team? Take your shirt off and run around because ultimately none of this matters and we are all just inching closer to death every day? Answer: he just watched the game from the bench. The Kings want to sign him to a long-term deal, and his fellow players all commended him for staying on the bench the rest of the game. LeBron also posted an Instagram discussing the issue, but I literally have no idea what point he was trying to make. Sports trades! They make people have lots of feelings!

Grow up

I love when sports people gossip about other sports people. This especially doesn’t happen in golf very frequently. So Sergio Garcia had a bit of a meltdown the other day. He was playing in a European Tour event in Saudi Arabia and just kind of lost his marbles. He started attacking a bunker with his club, apparently damaged five different greens and was ultimately disqualified from the event. Basically he turned into a complete terror and was just running around in full Hulk mode. Fellow player Brooks Koepka went on a podcast and said, “To act like a child out there is not cool.” He went on to say how it was disrespectful and dumb etc. etc. Sergio has apologized for his outburst, BUT BROOKS WASN’T DONE SPILLING THE TEA YET. He also discussed all the Patrick Reed drama from the Ryder Cup where ole Patty Boy went scorched Earth on Team U.S.A. following their bad loss to Europe. He said that Reed texted the team in a group text apologizing about his comments to the NY Times. I need more Brooks Koepka on podcasts. He does not mind giving his two cents on things, and you know we love some drama.

National Signing Day

Oh yeah, so yesterday was National Signing Day. “But Kelly!” you say. “We thought that happened at the end of last year?!” I know. That was Early National Signing Day. So most of the top recruits announced their decisions back in December, but there were a few five star men who waited until yesterday. One of those players is running back Jerrion Ealy, the second-best available player for the Class of 2019. He announced his commitment to Ole Miss, but then said, “baseball has my heart” after his signing ceremony. Someone check to make sure Jerrion knows what he just signed. Ealy is projected as the 18th best prospect in the 2019 MLB class (some guys have it all) so he could end up dipping out for the majors if he gets a good deal. Otherwise, he wants to play both sports in Oxford. This guy is one to watch, I tell ya. What a get for Ole Miss.
