Strikeout

Wow. Talk about a streak. The Dodgers clinched their SEVENTH straight NL West crown on Tuesday night, beating the Orioles 7-3. Only the Yankees and Braves have ever won more divisional crowns in a row. As a result of the win, the Dodgers became the first team in the league to secure a spot in the playoffs this year, and will now be playing to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Congrats, Dodgers. Time to prep for some October baseball.

Watch me now

Oh, baby do we have ourselves a bad boiiii on the loose. Star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made his debut as a Cleveland Brown on Sunday. He wore a $350,000 watch during the game and the NFL is like HEY, NO WATCHES. Obviously he is planning on wearing it again during the Browns upcoming game this weekend, because no one tells him what he can and can not wear on his wrist. My question is about wrist flexion. Does it hinder range of motion? Does it get annoying? OBJ thinks if someone else had worn this watch it wouldn’t have been an issue. He also thinks if it is a $20 watch it wouldn’t have been an issue. Me thinks you should watch yourself, OBJ.

Good ole Rocky Top

Get ready for the sweetest story. Sometimes humanity really comes through. I’ll set the scene. A young boy in Florida was just trying to show his team spirit for his elementary school’s college colors day, but he didn’t have an actual University of Tennessee shirt. He got a little creative and made his own UT logo (it’s actually really good) and pinned it to an orange shirt. In the words of Tim Gunn: he made it work. THEN a bunch of mean girls who weren’t even PARTICIPATING in college colors day made fun of him for his shirt. He went to his teacher clearly upset, so she posted on Facebook about the incident. She wanted to see if anyone knew anyone at UT who would send a shirt to this sweet kiddo. UT did one better. They not only sent a ton of #swag, they made his design into an actual shirt. Shout out Vol Nation, because they crashed the site trying to buy the shirt. Better yet, a portion of the proceeds are going toward and anti-bullying organization. Bet those bullies feel real silly now! Tennessee’s football season might not be going according to plan, but they really crushed it with this one. Love to see it.

Yelich out for the year

Well this is terrible. Last night, Milwaukee Brewers star Chirstian Yelich fouled a pitch off of his kneecap, fracturing it. I’m in pain just thinking about that. The injury will sideline him for the rest of the season. For those of you who don’t know, Yelich has been one of the best players in the MLB over the last two years. He won the National League MVP last year, and has been having an incredible year once again in 2019- good enough to potentially repeat as MVP. His loss is a huge blow for the Brewers, who are currently one game back of the second wildcard spot for the playoffs. It couldn’t have come at a worse time, as they will have to find a way to win without their star. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for Christian.

Brown accused of sexual assault

Antonio Brown has been on the never ending drama train the past year, and things took a dark turn yesterday. His former trainer accused him of sexual assaulting her multiple times. Her accusations range from him exposing himself while they were working together to raping her last year. Truly horrific claims. Brown is obviously denying this happened, and he is going to sue her for civil extortion. The Patriots made a statement saying they are aware of what’s going on and the league is investigating.
